Christmas & Hogmanay at Errichel

We will be updating this section throughout the year, but here is just a sample of the wonderful things that go on during the Festive Season, which will really get you into the spirit of things:

Glamis Castle Christmas Storytelling and Santa's Grotto

This was our favourite find of Christmas 2011. If you think a storytelling might not hold your children’s attention for an hour – think again. Three different stories, in three different locations within the castle – this was effectively a tour of the castle with the children. Starting in the vaults of the basement with low lighting, stone walls, comfy sofas, huge fireplaces, then travelling up stone spiral staircases, through grand halls with suits of armour and bearskins, to a stunning dining room and then onwards and upwards to the top of the castle for the final act. There was a captivating storyteller and a hilarious puppeteer, mulled wine for the adults and sweet treats for the kids. The Castle has a very good family restaurant and stunning grounds and gardens which are as beautiful and interesting to walk around on a frosty winter’s day as when they are in full bloom in the summer.

Aberfeldy Christmas Market

All the local businesses are present and there is a real community spirit, with the Pipe Band playing come rain or shine and any number of stalls for hot food and unique ideas for Christmas gifts.

Pitlochry Festival Theatre Pantomime & Perth Theatre Pantomime

Both are an easy drive from Aberfeldy and much fun for all the family.
